Keppel Health Review’s Coverage Statement

The Keppel Health Review (KHR) is an independent magazine that amplifies underrepresented voices in public and global health.

We will accept:

  • Health-related contributions falling underneath the following categories: Essay and Opinion; Culture; Wellness; Creative.

  • Contributions that are written in clear and comprehensible English.

  • Contributions that are relevant and appropriate for our public audience.

The KHR endorses freedom of expression, debate, and diversity in opinion. We will therefore also accept:

  • Original, critical opinion pieces that relate clearly and thoughtfully to issues in global or public health.

  • Contributions that support a multitude of political, cultural, and social viewpoints.

  • Contributions that support and/or criticise institutions, governments, and social organisations, permitted contributors declare any conflict of interest.

The KHR takes no liability for the opinions expressed within the pieces it publishes and strives to maintain political neutrality. However, the KHR will not accept:

  • Contributions we deem could cause significant harm to members of the general public.

  • Contributions we deem could spread harmful misinformation to members of the general public.

  • Contributions that we deem could cause significant harm or risk to the credited Contributor.

  • Contributions that are irrelevant to or contradict current public health advice.

Additionally, we will not facilitate interviews by external Contributors on behalf of KHR and the KHR publication. All interviews conducted for pieces published in the KHR will be organised and carried out by KHR staff. The KHR aims to ensure that interviews are conducted in a professional, fair, and equitable way, and that interviewees give full consent to the published version of their words.

The KHR Executive Committee, through consultation with the Advisory Board, reserve the right to refuse or remove Contributor’s material when it is judged to be incongruent with the statement above.

The KHR and its editorial team will ensure, to the best of their knowledge, that all pieces published remain free of plagiarism, are referenced properly, fact checked, and contain no libellous or illegal content. However, the KHR assumes no liability or responsibility for any inaccurate or incomplete information, nor for any actions taken in relation to images, individuals, events, organisations, or content contained on the KHR website and affiliated social media platforms.

Sponsorship and Endorsement

We will not publish any sponsored content and we will declare any conflicts of interest that have been disclosed to us by Contributors.

Our editors and reviewers may include links and reviews of other resources, products, apps, and companies. Their inclusion does not imply KHR endorsement. However, we will not publish links and images to companies that are known to be affiliated with or funded by industries that are harmful to public health, such as the tobacco and alcohol industry.
